Noticeboard with a slightly uneven grid of blank cards held by pins; a single red card.

The output begins with artificial intelligence systems that generate music and audio in real time (D'Accord Guitar, from 2001, the oldest on the list; rhythmic accompaniment generation by patterns, from 2004; the thesis, from 2008; the demonstration at IJCAI 2015) and with the automatic discovery of audio descriptors using EDS, from Sony CSL: ISMIR 2005 is the first doctoral work presented at an international conference. Next come digital musical instruments, with A Method and Toolkit for Digital Musical Instruments (2017); digital games as an experimental instrument in psychology, with Slingshot Challenge and Star Mines (2022); education, with the SBIE 2022 paper; and innovation, with the study of the Porto Digital Technology Residency (WASHES 2023) and the preface to the CESAR book on design in organizations (2023). In 2024 come the texts on artificial intelligence in Brazil, with Jean-Pierre Briot. In 2026 come the Bolão das IAs, in which 124 artificial intelligence models predicted the 104 World Cup matches, the essay about it, and the publication of the mixed reality patent filed by Samsung and UFPE. The work on agentic AI is in the essays and at FAROL, which produced a series of studies on software development with AI agents: agent memory, intent-based specification, telemetry, testing, sizing, productivity, and management.

From 2001 to 2023 there are 88 unique works: 11 journal articles, 56 conference papers, 2 chapters, one dissertation and one master's thesis, the edited books, and technical output. The selection below opens with recent texts and one work from each theme, and continues with the most cited, the award-winning, the first of each line of work, and by venue. Citation counts are from 09/24/2026: S2 is Semantic Scholar, OA is OpenAlex, CR is Crossref; where the Lattes declares Web of Science and Scopus, the number appears as such.

1. What 124 artificial intelligences got wrong at the World Cup · 2026

Cabral, G. Essay on the Bolão das IAs, 09/23/2026. Essay · Bolão das IAs archive · code

Artificial intelligence. Between June 11 and July 19, 2026, the Bolão das IAs, from FAROL, had 124 artificial intelligence models predict all 104 World Cup matches under the rules of an ordinary betting pool, with an open ranking: 5,797 predictions. The essay shows that the models' errors were aligned, in the same direction and at the same time, which reduces the value of consulting several models as a second opinion. The experiment was covered by Folha de Pernambuco on 06/15/2026.

Artificial intelligence. A system that automatically generates, in audio and in real time, the harmonization of a possibly improvised melody, over a fixed rhythm, with partial information and mutual influence between system and user; the thesis solves it by extending music information retrieval techniques to the acoustic signal. It produces the Ramin framework, evaluated against human musicians; a simple solution outperformed the complex ones. Turma do Som: Book 1 and Teacher's Manual

Edited by Cecília Cavalieri França and Giordano R. E. Cabral. Recife: Daccord Music Software,

2012. 1st edition. Two volumes: Book 1 (38 pp.) and Teacher's Manual (120 pp.).

The printed material accompanies Turma do Som, a music-initiation platform for basic schooling. The content is organized into four blocks (sound or timbre, pitch, time, and structure), explained through animated videos and worked through twenty-five games; the pedagogical consultant was Cecília Cavalieri França, who holds a doctorate in music education from the University of London and is a professor at UFMG. The platform responded to Law 11,769/2008, which made music teaching mandatory in basic education.
